Japan has four distinct seasons, represented by cherry blossoms, fresh verdure, red and gold autumn foliage, and snow. Based on these natural phenomena that distinctly represent the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, the people of Japan have cultivated a lifestyle rich in cultural diversity. Flower viewing, firework displays, snow festivals, illuminations and other events to mark the various seasons exist across the country, delighting not just the local residents but also a large number of tourists. In recent years, technology museums, which offer a glimpse into facilities and manufacturing processes, have increased in number and become popular participatory tourist attractions for both children and adults.

Japan, an island country surrounded by ocean on all sides, also has a lot of mountainous terrain, and is blessed by an abundance of natural beauty – large rivers cutting across plains, valleys surrounded by mountains on all sides, lush highlands covered with forests. Cherry blossoms and azaleas are viewed in the spring; therapeutic walks in forests verdant with new leaves are a summertime activity; autumn is a time to view beautiful fall colors; and in the winter, a variety of winter sports such as skiing can be enjoyed. The fresh, locally grown seasonal vegetables and fruits are delicious.
